My Experiences

Hi there, My name is Kevin Ko, and welcome to my portfolio site! No doubt you're here to see what I am made of, well here is the short version, I am an interactive developer who have been working with motion graphics in the marketing and advertising industry since 2008 and have had the opportunity to work alongside countless professionals in many advertising agencies and creative shops throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

I have worked on so many different brands that I am proud of: large automotive heavy weights such as Ford, Mercedes, Porsche, Toyota, Fiat, Chrysler, and Lexus, financial institutions like CIBC and Deloitte and telecom titans like Rogers and Bell make up some nice features of my portfolio.

My Drive and Passion

In my youth, I enjoyed creative works in the form of cartoons and animations. But since I didn't have the artistic dexterity or aptitude to become a hardcore animator, my passion has lead me to pursue the creation of motion graphics myself.

Outside of my profession, I am constantly inspired by the creative works in the form of media and video games, which lead me to experiment and tinker around with new trends and technologies to further my pursuit in motion graphics. This has driven me to self teach many of the software and programming languages that I use today.

My Skill Sets

Pursuing my passion has lead me to developing and marketing my skills which has been fruitful for my professional career. The Adobe Creative Suite containing tools such as Photoshop, Flash, Premiere, After Effects get a lot of mileage from the work that I've done.

Naturally, programming languages like HTML, CSS, Java script have become powerful assets when creating motion graphics, I have even experimented with HTML web authoring tools like Adobe Edge and Google Web Designer, but I much prefer to hand code in Sublime Text to produce clean and efficient code without relying too heavily proprietary software.

I do have a background in Front-End development which allows me to adapt well into smaller web projects. I have leveraged Twitter Bootstrap to develop Landing Pages such as my own portfolio site and a Subway Canada Landing Page which are mobile-first and fully responsive, but I have worked in teams for larger portal sites such as Lexus Dealer Associations by filling out localization databases.
